Past Work
STOP I.C.E. RAIDS - Protest
February 2025 - Allegan City Residents banded together to protest the inhumane and unnecessary raids on immigrant communities across the country as well as the institution of Guantanamo Bay as a concentration camp. We marched across the Marshall St. bridge chanting messages of equality and respect for all. We are continuing to work to provide immigrants with safety and resources.
Allegan Out Loud! - Pride
In August of 2022, Allegan Speak Up! hosted the city's first ever Pride Celebration - Allegan Out Loud. Their aim was to provide LGBTQIA+ residents of Allegan County a safe space to express themselves and to find that they are not alone! The event drew a croud of over 1500 people from all over Michigan, Indiana, and Chicagoland and featured vendors, food trucks, games, Drag Queen Story Time, music, and an incredible all-ages Drag Show.
March for Reproductive Rights
In response to the overturning of Roe V. Wade, Allegan Speak Up! crashed the July 3 Jubilee parade and marched through the streets of our city to spread awareness of assault on women and women's right to bodily autonomy and the right to choose.
Black Lives Matter
In response to the brutal murder of George Floyd by police officers, Allegan Speak Up! was formed to create an outlet for social justice activism within the Allegan community. What started as a Facebook event with minimal traction turned into a peaceful protest of 100+ activists - showing solidarity with communities all over the nation who are fighting against police brutality and racial inequality.
